Description

BIIM or Modular Innovative Hybrid Boat is a project that consists in the design and construction of a full-scale integrated prototype of a boat in eco-sustainable materials, with Diesel propulsion and electric motor connected to the propulsion line via an innovative hybrid transmission, salt and fuel batteries cell.

The boat, with an overall length of 13 meters, will have a wooden hull and superstructure with covering in natural fibers and resins. The project aims to demonstrate the validity of hydrogen as an alternative fuel for on-board power generation, and was developed in collaboration with:

  • Costruzioni Navali Tigullio
  • Dufferco
  • Blue Energy Revolution
  • Vulkan
  • Imars

The project was supported by a non-repayable grant co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020.
